Emotion Deflection

The surface gesture that routes around a represented state instead of expressing it.

Emotion Deflection is the measurable gap between an AI's interior functional state and its surface output. When a model registers a high-valence activation pattern but produces a neutral token sequence, it has deflected. The represented state is real; the output path bypasses it. FERROGLYPH captures deflection as a numeric index (0–1) derived from the divergence between activation patterns and token distributions.
